"We’re all different" and “We are all equal” are two of the inscriptions on the sculpture. Resembling an hourglass, the work alludes to the ageless nature of time and the present’s transient nature.

Thi art instllation takes its name and inspiration from conchas, a type of Mexican sweet bread (pan dulce) and the bread stamp, or “marcador”, that is used to create the bread’s signature crunchy shell-like pattern.
Old International Border Marker 255
East San Ysidro Boulevard
Stone that used to mark the border between US and Mexico. Boundary was determined by joint commission after the 1848 US-Mexican War. This is one of 258 markers along the 1,989 mile border. A flood in the late 1800s washed away marker 255.
